Scenario
Reporting to the UK managing director, the bias of this newly created role required the incumbent to manage financial planning and reporting within a robust, commercial environment. They would work closely with both the sales and management teams to define the commercial and strategic goals of the business.
The challenge was to find an individual that had both sector specific experience and a rare mix of commercial and technical skills. There were also a number of internal candidates to be taken into account.
Solution
Conscious of the brief’s highly specific criteria, we advised a multi faceted approach, leveraging our network of contacts and advertising in the Financial Times and online. We also spent time with members of the board to understand the culture of the business and to build a detailed picture of who would fit within that culture.
Outcome
We delivered a shortlist of six candidates. Following a rigorous interview process a candidate put forward from our network was awarded the position.
