Michael Page Executive Search has worked closely with ATASS throughout 2011, developing a keen understanding of this diverse and rapidly expanding business. Based in Exeter, the group are one of the South West’s best kept secrets with interests that include statistical modelling, renewable energy, property, education and charitable enterprise.
ATASS first approached Michael Page Executive Search with a need for an operations director/managing director for their fledgling energy business. This was the first time they had considered externally resourcing senior management and they knew of Michael Page by reputation. David Thomas visited Exeter to discuss the role and how we could assist and we were subsequently selected to partner them.
Our success in recruiting these key roles meant that we were also asked to assist with the recruitment of a head of HR, head of investment, general manager – property and general manager – education.
Solution
The methodology followed to achieve success has been a mixture of advertised selection, search and networking to provide robust shortlists for an exacting cultural fit. Advertising has utilised both the traditional and online media depending on the nature of the role.
The key focus of our selection work has been twofold: finding people with a genuine passion for the South West of the UK and ensuring that they have an interest in community involvement that extends into their personal life. Alongside this has been the core competence and skill set required to do the job.
Outcome
The utilisation of an outsourced provider of executive recruitment services has been a new experience for the group. The majority of recruitment has been concluded and new assignments are likely to be positioned as ATASS continue to grow and develop their profit making and charitable enterprises. These are truly exciting times for the group with their reach and influence in the South West increasing daily.
