Business and support services

The business and support services sector is becoming increasingly competitive, with facilities management providers anxious to grow their service portfolio and to provide a total facilities management solution.

The market looks set to grow in both the public and private sector as more outsourced contracts are awarded and a push-and-pull factor increases international presence. There is also continuing pressure to manage the cost base within organisations whilst ensuring the service provision on contracts.

Implications for the executive recruitment market

Recent trends we’ve noted include the tendency for candidates to put job security high on the agenda, with developmental moves on-hold unless an opportunity can be considered ‘exceptional’. However, confidence has been returning in recent months and the outlook is positive.

Our response

Given the changing market conditions we’ve taken an extremely proactive approach. Retained by a number of organisations in the sector, we’ve taken a combined approach of search and advertised selection to appoint the following roles:

  • Divisional managing director - FTSE 25 support services business
  • Regional finance director - FTSE 50 support services business
  • HR director - EMEA leading international business services organisation
  • Bid director - Leading services business
  • Group HR director - FTSE 200 support services business
